hi fellow knitters,
 this month I have a real challenge for all of you: 
YOU have to find the cloth you want to knit!!

if you haven't been to this free knitting site [did I mention *free*?!], you're in for a good time ~
much more than dishcloths, for those of you wanting to knit something more ~
 and lots of knit how-to's. They have 1000s of free patterns of all types!

Materials:

One skein cotton yarn, #7 US Knitting needles

Cast on: multiple of 6 + 2 (30 + 2 + 6 border = 38)

Border:

Rows 1-4:   Knit

Pattern:

Row 1:        Knit

Row 2:        K3, P32, K3

Row 3:        Knit.

Row 4:        K3, P32, K3.

Row 5:        K3, K2, *P4, K2; repeat from *, end K3.

Row 6:        K3, P2, *K4, P2; repeat from *, end K3.

Row 7:        K3, K2, *P4, K2; repeat from *, end K3.

Row 8:        K3, P2, *K4, P2; repeat from *, end K3.

Repeat pattern to desired length. I repeated the 8-row pattern 5 more times.

Border:

Rows 1-4:   Knit

Bind off and weave in ends.

June 2019 CHALLENGE-KAL 

Happy Summer from Rosie!

hi fellow knitters,

 I'm a bit early - but thought you might need a gift for Father's Day!

  or just to pass the time at your vacation home this month -

  This is a sweet little dishcloth - it's only knits!  no purls!  

 The challenge this month is to trust the pattern!  

This is a shaped cloth [heart], and it might sound strange to not be doing wrapped turns or mid-row cast on's, etc.  But none of that!

  The terms you need to know are Kfb, K 2 tog, YO, SSK

 This looks really nice in variegated yarns!

NOTE: on ROW 23, she has a "K 0" in the middle of row -

 I believe she did that because you K 2 together on either side of that - in other words, [K 2tog]twice

1 skein cotton yarn, #6 US Knitting Needles.

Notes: KFB=knit front & back of stitch (increase), P3Tog= Purl 3 sts together,

Cast on:   Multiple of 10 +6 border (30+6=36)

Row 1-4:     Knit across.

Pattern:

Row 1:        K3, P3, *K5, P5; repeat from *, end last repeat with K5, P2, K3.

Row 2:        K5, *P5, K5; repeat from *, end last repeat with K6.

Row 3:        K3, P3, *KFB, P3Tog, KFB, P5; repeat from * end last 5 with P2, K3.

Row 4:        K5, *P5, K5; repeat from *, end last repeat with K6.

Repeat rows 1-4 for pattern (I repeated the 4 row set, 10 more times.)

Border:

Row 1-4:     Knit across.

Bind off and weave in ends.

May 2019 KAL Half and Half Cloth

Here is our KAL for May. The yarn was a light variegated.

It is a combination cloth with lace and stockinette stitches.

Materials:

1 skein cotton yarn, #6 US Knitting Needles.

Notes: K2Tog=Knit 2 stitches together; YO=yarn over. This is a combination of part lace and part stockinette.

Cast on:   Multiple of 12 (36+4=40)

Border:

Row 1-2:     Knit across.

Half 1:

Pattern:

Row 1:        Knit across

Row 2:        K2, P36, K2.

Row 3:        K2, *(K2Tog) x2, (YO, K1) x4, (K2Tog) x2; repeat from *, end K2.

Row 4:        Knit across.

Repeat rows 1-4 for half the cloth or 7 to 8 times.

Half 2:

Row 1:        Knit across

Row 2:        K2, P36, K2.

Repeat rows 1-2, twelve more times or until you have reached desired length

Border:

Row 1-2:     Knit across

Bind off and weave in ends.

Rosie wishes you *Happy Easter* !

I've been thinking *spring* -

 and walking thru my gardens to see what is blooming, tho the weather is still cold [34 today!] - 

my Pussy Willows have been blooming beautifully tho!

  So this month's challenge is a cloth that made me think of pussy-willows:  a Cat Face!

  Now, you do not have to make the face on it! - in fact, I did mine in one of my favorite variegated colored yarns - the pattern makes a very nice round dishcloth.

  The challenge this month: knitting in the round!

If you haven't done this type of knitting before, I hope you'll give it a try.

You can use double pt needles - or the very easy method using magic loop.  The internet is full of this way to knit in the round.  Also many books include it now, which you can find at your library.

  Have fun with it!

And let us know if you make a cat face, be sure to post your photo at your yahoo album for us all to see!

You will need:

#5 dbl pts needles OR #5 circular needle 

[I used a #6, as the cotton yarn I used is thicker and it went smoother than with a #5]

1 skein cotton yarn, color of your choice

small amount of black yarn [for cat's face and ears]

Cloth size:  7.5 inches across

March 2019  KAL Challenge

Happy St Patrick's Weekend!
  Rosie 's Birthday is this Sunday, she was born on St Patrick's Day, 3 yrs ago!

Our TWO Knitalong Challenge Patterns!

As you see, one is a Round Cloth, the other is a Square.

But - the round one is knit on straight needles!
The Square cloth is knit on circular needles!

The Circle cloth uses Short Rows.  If you've never done short rows this is a great first practice pattern for you - no wraps and turns!  so take on this challenge if you haven't tried short rows before!

The Square cloth uses magic loop with circulars - if you haven't used this method in your knitting in the round, this is a perfect one to learn on.  You could use double pointed needles, if you rather.
