One skein cotton yarn, #7 US Knitting needles

Notes:  YO=Yarn Over / SK2P=Slip 1, K2Tog, Pass slip stitch over.

Cast on: multiple of 8 + 1 (32 + 1 + 6 border = 39)

Border:
Rows 1-2:   Knit

Pattern:
Row 1:        (RS) K4, *YO, K2, SK2P,  K2, YO, K1; repeat from *; end K3
Row 2:        K3, P33, K3
Row 3:        K5, *YO, K1, SK2P, K1, YO, K3; repeat from * to last 10: YO, K1, SK2P, K1, YO, K2; end K3.
Row 4:        K3, P33, K3.
Row 5:        K6, *YO, SK2P, YO, K5; repeat from * to last 9: YO, SK2P, YO, K6.
Row 6:        K3, P33, K3.
Repeat pattern to desired length. I repeated the 6-row pattern 6 more times.

Border:
Rows 1-2:   Knit

Bind off and weave in ends.

October 2019 KAL French Country Dishcloth

Welcome to October. I have some Halloween pattern sites listed, along with our October KAL today.

Materials:
Three separate colors (use scraps) skein cotton yarn, #7 US Knitting needles
Color A Main color; Color B, alternate; Color C, alternate / Size small = 8 ½’ X 6” Large is 10” X 10”

Cast on:  For small cloth 35, for larger cloth 51

Pattern:
Row 1:        Color A (RS) K3, *P1, K3; repeat from * across
Row 2:        Color A (WS) K1, P1, *K3, P1; repeat from * across, end K1.
                   Repeat the above 2 rows, Color A, two (2) more times
Row 1:        Color B K3, *P1, K3; repeat from * across.
Row 2:        Color B K1, P1, *K3, P1; repeat from *, end K1.
                   Repeat the above 2 rows with color B, two (2) more times.
Row 1:        Color C K3, *P1, K3; repeat from * across.
Row 2:        Color C K1, P1, *K3, P1; repeat from * across end K1.
Repeat the above 2 rows with color C, two (2) more times.
Row 1:        Color B K3, *P1, K3; repeat from * across
Row 2:        Color B K1, P1, *K3, P1; repeat from * across, end K1
Repeat the above 2 rows with C, two (2) more times.
Row 1:        Color A K3, *P1, K3; repeat from * across.
Row 2:        Color A K1, P1, *K3, P1; repeat from * across, end K1.
Repeat the above 2 rows with A, till desired length.  I knitted the small cloth and work the last two rows in Color A, 15 more times.

September 2019 KAL Mock Cable Reversible

1 skein cotton yarn, #6 US Knitting Needles.

Notes: This is a reversible pattern that looks good on either side. It isn’t a difficult pattern. Border is a different border than you usually see. It is being done to promote a variety of ways to work borders. If you prefer a “knit” border just knit 4 rows.

Cast on:   Multiple of 10  (30 +6 border=36)

Border:
Row 1:        K4, P4 across.
Row 2:        K1, P1 across.
Row 3:        Knit across.
Row 4:        Knit across.

Pattern:
Row 1:        K3, *P4, K1, P1, K4; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 2:        K3, *P3, K2, P2, K3; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 3:        K3, *P2, K2, P1, K1, P2, K2; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 4:        K3, *P1, (K2, P2) x2, K1; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 5:        K3, *K2, P3, K3, P2; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 6:        K3, *K1, P4, K4, P1; repeat from *, end K3.

Repeat rows 1-6, seven more times.
Border:
Row 1:        Knit across.
Row 2:        Knit across.
Row 3:        K1, P1 across.

Cast on: multiple of 6 + 2 (30 + 2 + 6 border = 38)

Border:
Rows 1-4:   Knit

Pattern:
Row 1:        Knit
Row 2:        K3, P32, K3
Row 3:        Knit.
Row 4:        K3, P32, K3.
Row 5:        K3, K2, *P4, K2; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 6:        K3, P2, *K4, P2; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 7:        K3, K2, *P4, K2; repeat from *, end K3.
Row 8:        K3, P2, *K4, P2; repeat from *, end K3.

Repeat pattern to desired length. I repeated the 8-row pattern 5 more times.

Border:

Rows 1-4:   Knit
Bind off and weave in ends.

June 2019 CHALLENGE-KAL 


Happy Summer from Rosie!






hi fellow knitters,
 I'm a bit early - but thought you might need a gift for Father's Day!
  or just to pass the time at your vacation home this month -

  This is a sweet little dishcloth - it's only knits!  no purls!  
 The challenge this month is to trust the pattern!  

This is a shaped cloth [heart], and it might sound strange to not be doing wrapped turns or mid-row cast on's, etc.  But none of that!
  The terms you need to know are Kfb, K 2 tog, YO, SSK

 This looks really nice in variegated yarns!

This is called Sister Hearts, and you can find the pattern at her site:
NOTE: on ROW 23, she has a "K 0" in the middle of row -
 I believe she did that because you K 2 together on either side of that - in other words, [K 2tog]twice
