Hi, here is the first KAL for December:

Here are our Guidelines:

Everyday rows will be sent via an email, I will be "Replying" to this
email so all of the rows will be on one email at the end of the KAL.

Use our KAL Blog if you don't see the rows. If you are a "Special
Notice" member, you will need to get your rows for day 2 - final from
our blog or checking our site for the "updated" emails. Yahoo doesn't
provide for "reply" messages to be sent to the Special Notice members.

If you need help, check
www.knittinghelp.com for any assistance or write an email to
the group for help.

For day 1 and day 2, I won’t  post photos this time, I am working on Christmas items and I need to work on them so I can get them in the mail

Using Lifelines will help with any project. If you aren't sure what
that is, there is plenty of info on the Internet about it but it is
basically where you put thread or thin yarn through a row already
worked, designating that all the rows to that point are error free.
You should document what row you put the lifeline in so you have a point
of reference. If you make any error after that point, you know you are
OK with the previous rows anyway.

 Materials:

(Green Yarn Recommended)

100% Cotton Yarn, Worsted Weight, 2.5 oz

Size US 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles

Instructions:

Cast on 37 stitches.

Note:  Border stitches are in parentheses () at beginning and end of each row should you prefer to substitute a different border.

NOV KAL

Hi, this is day 1 of our 16th of the month KAL.

If you need help, check www.knittinghelp.com for any assistance or write an email to
the group for help.

For day 1 and day 2, I will post a photo of those days rows on our KAL
Blog for those who want to see if they are progressing correctly.

1 skein of two colors....color 1 & color 2, #6 or 7 needles.  The recommended colors are blue & white....however, with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up you could use those kinds of colors if you wish.

Notes:
PW=Purl Wise  (don't move yarn to purl position, leave in knitting position but put needle under and in front of the next stitch and move to the right needle)
W/YIF=With yarn in front
W/YIB=With yarn in back
Sl=Slip

Day 1:
Cast on 35

Border:
Knit 2 rows (Blue-Solid)

Row 1: (Color 1) K3, K2, *Sl 1 (PW), K5*; Repeat between *'s, end Sl 1, K2, K3
Row 2: (Color 1) K3, Purl across row, slipping the previous Slip Stitches on to the right needle (PW), K3

Start row 3 with Color 2, dropping color 1 and let it run along the side of the row.

Row 3: (Color 2) K3, *K5, Sl 1 (PW) *; Repeat between *'s, end K5, K3
Row 4: (Color 2) K3, *K5, W/YIF, Sl 1 (PW), W/YIB *; Repeat between *'s, end K5, K3

Pick up Color 1 and drop Color 2, letting the other color follow along the side of the row. Follow this process when changing colors.
Row 5: (Color 1) K3, K2, *Sl 1 (PW), K5*; Repeat between *'s, end Sl 1, K2, K3
Row 6: (Color 1) K3, Purl across row, slipping the previous Slip Stitches on to the right needle (PW), K3
Row 7: (Color 2) K3, *K5, Sl 1 (PW) *; Repeat between *'s, end K5, K3
Row 8: (Color 2) K3, *K5, W/YIF, Sl 1 (PW), W/YIB *; Repeat between *'s, end K5, K3

November 1st KAL DAY 1

. ~Hi!
~ A bit of info before we begin our next KAL ~

This will involve changing colors - no groaning!!
It's not a difficult pattern - and if you haven't done more than one color knitting before, this will be good practice!
Do NOT cut the yarn at every color change; simply carry the unused color along the side - overlap/twist the two yarn pieces instead. You can always find more info if needed by checking knitting sites online.  [I will send some suggested helpful links tomorrow.]

  Suggestion:   I strongly recommend that you either highlight the color changes when you print off the pattern - or use some kind of reminder to yourself.   I've knit for fifty years and still have to give myself reminders!!  It's too easy to get knitting and neglect to change a color, or purl when you should knit!
  I am not going to tell you if this will be a pattern or a picture cloth!
A bit of a mystery.......!
but--I will tell you that it is NOT any type of lace pattern, tho.

So, here is what you will need:
Cotton yarn – (two colors)
A = blue
B = white
Size 7 (US) = 4.5 mm needles [or desired needle size]

And your treat tonight for halloween is the first day of rows!
So while you wait for trick-or-treaters, you can start your KAL!
Pattern:
A = solid color
B = white

Cast on 37 stitches loosely with color A

Row1: (Color A) knit across

Row2: (Color A) knit across

Row3: (Color A) knit across

Row4: (Color A) knit across

Row5: (Color B) knit across

Row6: (Color B) K4, P29, K4

Row7: (Color A) knit across

Row8: (Color A) knit across

Row9: (Color B) knit across

Row10: (Color B) K4, P29, K4
That's all for today!   See you tomorrow ~
happy halloween and happy knitting,
: )
